It wasn't because there weren't other good games at the time (I eventually learned about the high-quality simulation of NoLimits, plus I already knew about ThrillVille and SimCoaster). I made this sub for RollerCoaster Tycoon. (For the record, Theme Parkitect excites me more than Planet Coaster, so it's more likely to end up here than PlanCo, but I still don't think TP will join /r/rct.) But it's quite an uphill battle - I can imagine almost no cases in which Planet Coaster is allowed on this sub with the same freedom RCT is. What content is allowed on this sub in the future depends on the quality of these games. I have almost no memory of the latter two and I never owned them. I've spent less than 60 minutes combined across all non-RCT, non-Sim Theme Park / SimCoaster games in the theme park genre. Hey, what's up! Guy who made this subreddit here.
